Kerang and District Book Parade

Book parade.jpg

An annual highlight of the Kerang and district education calendar, children will mark Children’s Book Council of Australia Children’s Book Week with a parade through Kerang's streets.

The Parade will commence at 11am from the rear of Kerang Primary School (Albert Street). Spectators are encouraged to view the Book Parade from Scoresby Street, Fitzroy Street, Wellington Street and Victoria Street.

The Parade provides an opportunity for school children from across our district to come together to parade through our streets, celebrating a love of books and reading in our community. Children from district schools will dress in class groups as book characters.

Roads along the parade’s route will be closed to vehicles during the morning and alternative parking will need to be found.

The parade will continue this year along its traditional route incorporating Victoria Square, where students will pause while information about their chosen book is read out.

Kerang Traders are running a 'Super Hero' theme day and encouraging local businesses to dress up in theme and be a Superhero for the day!

The Lions Club of Kerang will run one of their popular barbecues, whilst Jenelle’s Face Painting will be on hand to help children channel their favourite book character or superhero. Kids can also eat fairy floss from a stall, and bounce about on a jumping castle brought in especially for the event.
