Residents are encouraged to provide feedback on the proposed design of the Cohuna Waterfront Connection Project, which will create better linkages between Garden Park and King George Street.

The project, part of the $3.4 million Cohuna CBD and Waterfront Connections project, aims to connect the Cohuna Central Business District to Gunbower Creek and works currently underway at Apex Park.

Council spent the past few months working with community groups to determine what features they would like included in the design.

This feedback has been incorporated in the proposed design, which highlights the growing popularity of outdoor dining areas, with extra seating placed around the current location of the town’s clock tower.

Consultation undertaken so far also strongly emphasised the precinct connecting Cohuna’s central business district to Garden Park and Gunbower Creek via infrastructure, such as decking or a jetty.

Other features that the community wished to include in these works were the installation of more power outlets to support festivals and markets within Garden Park, as well as uniformed, modern park furniture and increased seating along the banks of Gunbower Creek.

All feedback received prior to 5pm Friday, 26 February will assist with the project’s final design, with works to occur during 2021 and 2022.

The Cohuna CBD and Waterfront Connections Project is supported by the State Government’s $2.7 billion Building Works package.
