Volunteer for Council

Overview

There are a variety of opportunities to volunteer with Gannawarra Shire Council. If you are interested in helping out with any of the services listed above, we would love to hear from you!

Gannawarra Non Emergency Transport Service (GNETS)

The Gannawarra Non-Emergency Transport Service is a community transport service, developed to assist people to access their specialist and/or health care provider in larger regional areas such as Bendigo, Echuca, Shepparton and Swan Hill. GNETS takes the worry out of long distance transport! GNETS could not operate without our volunteer drivers, so if you enjoy driving, meeting and talking to new people and helping others, then this is the volunteer opportunity you’ve been waiting for. For further information contact Council’s Community Care Team on (03) 5450 9333.

Meals On Wheels

Council aims to deliver 20,000 meals a year through its partnership with Cohuna District Hospital and Kerang District Health and this would not be possible without the help of volunteers. Meals on Wheels deliveries take just one hour a day and make a big difference to the lives of many. Meals on Wheels not only assist members of our community to remain independent and living at home, but it also builds and sustains our local communities. For further information contact Council’s Community Care Team on (03) 5450 9333.

Gateway to Gannawarra Visitor Centre

The Gateway to Gannawarra Visitor Centre in Cohuna is the primary visitor centre within the Gannawarra Shire.

The centre was constructed in 2012 and has proven to be a very popular place for visitors to the area.

With, on average, 50 visitors per day, the Centre features a range of local products, souvenirs and artworks, all chosen for their relevance to the local brand.

Our volunteers reside in different locations across our Shire including Cohuna, Koondrook, Kerang, Leitchville, Quambatook and the Kerang lakes.

Volunteering at the Gateway Visitor Centre provides a great opportunity for community members to assist in promoting the many aspects of their local region.

For further information please contact the Gateway to Gannawarra Visitor Centre on (03) 5456 2047.
