Residents were encouraged to have their say on Council’s 2022/2023 Budget, with feedback accepted during mid-May and early June 2022.

Adopted on 29 June 2022, the 2022/2023 Budget features a $14 million investment in capital works and an increase in revenue raised through municipal rates revenue that complies with the State Government’s Fair Go Rates System.

What is the 2022/2023 Proposed Budget?

A Proposed Budget is one of the key document Council produces each year. It outlines how Council will continue to provide the various services residents rely on and what capital works projects Council will invest in.

 

What are the highlights of the 2022/2023 Proposed Budget?

Some of the highlights of the 2022/2023 Proposed Budget include:

  • Continuation of support for key services Gannawarra Shire residents rely on.
  • A $13.229 million capital works program, which focuses on town developments, investment in recreational facility improvements and supporting tourism initiatives.
  • Investment in four multi-million dollar projects that, once completed, will transform liveablity, recreational and tourism opportunities for residents and visitors alike – The Glasshouse @ The Gannawarra project, the Sustainable Recreation Water for Quambatook project, Stage 3 of the Kerang CBD Redevelopment and the Kerang-Koondrook Rail Trail.
  • Compliance with the State Government’s Fair Go Rates System, which states that the total revenue raised through municipal rates cannot increase by more than 1.75 per cent compared to the previous year.

How was feedback accepted

Residents were able to have their say on Council's 2022/2023 Proposed Budget between mid-May and early June, with feedback accepted by email, letter and a Have Your Say form.

All feedback received will assist with the development of the 2022/2023 Gannawarra Shire Council Budget, which will be presented at an Unscheduled Meeting of Council to be held on Wednesday, 29 June 2022.
