Gannawarra - Active at Any Age!

Gannawarra - Active at Any Age! is a program aimed to improve the overall health and wellbeing of residents aged 65 years and older, particularly those less active.

While many of us know that the Australian Guidelines recommend 30 minutes of physical activity every day, only 17 per cent of older adults are meeting the recommendations.

This program aims to help older adults stay fit and active as they age. Physical activity is achievable and even the slightest increase in activity can make a huge difference to your mental and physical well-being.

This project is funded by the Australian Government’s Move It AUS Better Ageing Grant through Sport Australia. Together, we are banding together to

  • Enhance the understanding and benefits of regular physical activity;
  • Improve access to sport and physical activity opportunities;
  • Enable regular engagement in sport and physical activity; and
  • Enhance the capability and capacity of organisations and staff to deliver age-appropriate activities.

Meet the Ambassadors

Gannawarra Shire Council is celebrating incredible local residents who chose to be active! We hope their stories inspire you to build physical activity into your lifestyle. Remember if you’re just beginning to exercise, start out slowly and increase your activity over time.
