Federal Government assistance

State Government assistance

In April 2020, the State Government announced changes to the On-Farm Drought Resilience Grants program.

Eligible farm businesses can now apply for:

• Up to $5,000 for business decision making activities (with no-contribution required); and

• Up to $5,000 for infrastructure investments (with at least 50 per cent co-contribution required).

Farmers who have already received the On-Farm Drought Resilience Grant can reapply for further funding to top up their grant up to a total of $5,000 for business decision making activities and $5,000 for infrastructure investments.

Drought Community Support Initiative

The Salvation Army is working together with St Vincent de Paul Society to deliver the Drought Community Support Initiative for eligible drought-affected households.

Dry Season Conditions support (GMID)

Agriculture Victoria has developed a Dry Seasonal Conditions support guide specific to the Goulburn Murray Irrigation District (GMID). This information is beneficial to both the dairy and horticultural sectors.

Gannawarra Cares

Developed between May 2019 and April 2020, this monthly newsletter wasdeveloped as a result of the Gannawarra Resilience Committee.

Gannawarra Shire Council is currently leading this Committee around ongoing dry conditions that are currently impacting on our farming families, small businesses and surrounding rural communities.

This committee consists of 21 agencies who are working together to support our communities during this time.

Gannawarra Cares was replaced in May 2020 with the Drought Support Page in Gannawarra Connect, which is distributed to all homes and businesses within the Gannawarra.

Gannawarra Giving Account

Northern District Community Health has established a Gannawarra Giving Account to accept donations to support individual and community needs as the ongoing dry conditions continue.

Donations will be used to support local families in the Gananwarra Shire.

No funds are utilized for administration purposes. All funds will be distributed to local familes in need.

Donations, which are tax deductible, can be completed online.
