Who is eligible for GNETS?

People who are eligible for GNETS are those who cannot access public transport due to:

  • Illness
  • age
  • frailty
  • disability
  • fear
  • personal care needs
  • no public transport in your area
  • inappropriate bus/train timetables

Who is NOT eligible for GNETS?

People who are not eligible for GNETS, include those who:

  • Are able to travel by public transport
  • hold a Veterans' Affairs Gold Card
  • are unable to transfer from a wheelchair to a seat

Will the GNETS pick me up at home?

Yes, the friendly GNETS staff will pick you up from your home, or from a nominated address.

Where can GNETS take me?

The GNETS can provide transport to: Bendigo, Echuca, Shepparton and Swan Hill.

Where won't the GNETS take me?

The GNETS only provides long distance transport for eligible travellers. All other local or inter shire transport can be provided by your local taxi company. The service does not provide travel to Melbourne.

Costs

The GNETS charges a fare that is consistent with the Victorian Patient's Travel Assistance Scheme (VPTAS) which is calculated per kilometre over the distance travelled.

The VPTAS provides a travel reimbursement of 17c per kilometre for appointments over 100km. For more details you can phone 1300 737 073.
