Information about registering a Health Premises

The Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008 requires any business/individual conducting any of the following activities to be registered with Council:
- Beauty Therapy
- Hairdressing
- Skin Penetration (incl. piercing, electrolysis)
- Tattooing
- Colonic Irrigation
- Prescribed Accommodation

An Application to Register, together with the appropriate fee must be lodged with Council, along with a plan of your premises.

If you are taking over an existing business, you must apply to transfer the registration into your name. A transfer fee is payable.

An Inspection of the premises by the Environmental Health Officer should be considered prior to purchasing a registered Health premise to determine if there are any outstanding works to be completed. Any outstanding works becomes the responsibility of the new proprietor after the transfer of ownership.

For further information, including the current fees, please contact Council's Environmental Health Officer.
