Leitchville Pool and Town Development Opens

Member for Rodney Paul Weller MP officially opened the Leitchville Pool and Town Development Project Wednesday 30 November in front of a large crowd of local people including school children and community group representatives.

Some of the smaller children enjoyed a swim in the pool under the watchful eye of parents as the opening celebrations took place in breezy conditions with clear blue skies.

The Leitchville project included major upgrading of the pool area, the creation of new rest room facilities, car and caravan parking, development of a dual kiosk and information centre, main street planting, signage, and streetscape beautification.

Mrs Sandra Basile, Secretary of the Leitchville Swimming Pool Committee, thanked a large group of people from the Leitchville community who had contributed, Council and all those associated with the success of the project for their role in seeing the project completed.

Funding for the project included a State Government Small Town Development Fund grant of $250,000, with the balance funded by the Gannawarra Shire Council and the community, including some in-kind support.

“The $356,000 project sees a major improvement to the pool facilities and new public conveniences, caravan parking area and the beautification of the central area of the town for the benefit and enjoyment of residents and to encourage travelers to stop by in the town during their journey to see what it has to offer,” Gannawarra Shire Council Chief Executive Officer Rosanne Kava concluded.
