Call for Photographs of Flood

Gannawarra Shire Council is seeking photographs of the January 2011 floods to create a pictorial history and a travelling exhibition of the flood event.

Photographs submitted can be of any relevant subject leading up to, during or after the January 2011 flood event.

Photographs can be submitted via email to library@gls.vic.gov.au with the subject  ‘100 Year Flood’, or can be presented at the Kerang or Cohuna libraries where staff will scan the photographs so the original copy can be retained by the owner.

Each photograph submitted must be accompanied by the following information:

  • the name of the photographer
  • the date the photo was taken
  • the names of all identifiable people in the photograph, and
  • the identifiable location/landmark/activity.

A committee has been formed to select 100 photographs from those submitted.  Those selected will be printed and framed to form a travelling exhibition which will tour the Shire before being offered to other Shires and interested exhibitors.

“Those photographs not selected for the exhibition will be compiled to become a significant resource held with the Gannawarra Library Service as a pictorial history of the flood event for the benefit of the public and future generations,” Council Library Arts and Culture Manager, Nerida Dye, said.
