The bridge, which connects Barham in NSW with Koondrook in Victoria, will be closed to all traffic from 10am to 6pm, weather permitting. The closure is needed so the bridge’s wire ropes can be removed safely. The date for this closure has been selected in consultation with the community in order to minimise disruption to traffic. There will be no pedestrian or emergency vehicle access on this day. If all work is completed on 15 April, Barham Bridge will also be closed to traffic between 5am and 7am from Monday 16 April to Friday 20 April, weather permitting. This closure will allow the lift mechanism to be removed. A reduced speed limit of 40km/h will apply at all times and delays of up to 15 minutes may be experienced between 10am and 3pm. If work is unable to be completed on 15 April, the bridge will close on Sunday 22 April and the lift mechanism will be removed from Monday 23 to Friday 27 April. During the closures, light vehicles and semi trailers will be detoured via Gonns Crossing. A B-double detour route is available via Tooleybuc, Swan Hill or Echuca bridges. Emergency vehicles will be able to access Barham Bridge during the closures by request. Motorists should drive with caution and obey all signs and traffic control measures.
