This is a leadership position that manages the functions of Planning, Building and Local Laws. What you will need in order to be successful in this position is:
Exceptional communication and negotiation skills including the ability to translate information into plain English; ability to demonstrate empathy; ability to build rapport; and demonstrated ability to resolve conflict.
A broad understanding of planning, building and/or regulatory services and/or a demonstrated ability to understand and interpret legislation and regulations as they apply to local government
Ability to provide leadership and direction to staff
Ability to write Council reports
Ability to manage budgets
Ability to engage with the executive leadership team and Councillors
Ability to review processes and implement improved efficiencies across the team as part of the implementation of the new corporate system.
This position will require you to interact with the executive leadership team, councillors and the community. Attendance at occasional Council meetings, community meetings and industry forums will be required (some of which will be out of hours).
