| Gannawarra Shire Council will play host to Professor David de Kretser AC, Governor of Victoria, and Mrs de Kretser between July 14 and July 16, 2009.
During their visit Professor and Mrs de Kretser will meet with Councillors and senior staff, and will attend a Civic Reception being held in their honour.
Professor and Mrs de Kretser will also participate in a tour that will take in some of the municipality’s wonderful natural attractions, such as the Ibis Rookery and Gunbower Forest. The tour will also include visits to specific industries in Kerang, Cohuna and Koondrook, as well as visits to a school, a hospital and some dairy farms.
“We’re extremely pleased to have this opportunity to show off our municipality to the Governor and Mrs de Kretser,” said Mayor Cr Keith den Houting.
“We’ll do our best to ensure they enjoy their stay.”
Professor de Kretser was made an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2001 and a Companion in the Order of Australia in 2006, and he received the Centenary Medal in 2003. He assumed office as the 28th Governor of Victoria on April 7, 2006.
