Media Release - Young Professionals Network To Begin In Gannawarra  Printer Friendly

A new community group is set to begin in the Gannawarra Shire called the Gannawarra Young Professionals Network (GYPN). The aim of this group is to provide young professionals aged 18 to 40 with support and resources to assist them in their careers and community interests. The group will also provide social activities, workshops and training to young professionals in the Gannawarra Shire area.

A Young Professionals Network (YPN) is a support network that provides an opportunity to meet other ‘like-minded’ people in the community and is designed for young professionals in all industries and sectors. Each YPN event provides an opportunity to network, develop new skills, learn about topical issues and have fun along the way. A YPN can assist in welcoming new young professionals to the community as well as maintaining those that currently reside in the area.

By establishing a YPN in the Gannawarra area it will enable young professionals in the area to meet and share experiences and will also provide access to resources and networking opportunities. The outcome of this YPN will be that increasing numbers of young professionals will either remain in the area, move to the area or act as advocates for the area. This YPN will have a positive impact on the social, economic and environmental values in the Gannawarra Shire.

There are currently YPNs in Swan Hill, Echuca, Bendigo and Mildura. These towns have seen many benefits to their community as a result of their YPN. The same is predicted to occur in the Gannawarra Shire in the towns of: Kerang, Cohuna, Leitchville, Murrabit, Koondrook, Lalbert and Quambatook, as well as in many township areas.

The Gannawarra YPN is open to any young person aged 18 to 40 who are looking to network with other community members on a variety of issues and want to increase their skills or just meet new people.

The first meeting of the Gannawarra Young Professionals Network (GYPN) is on Monday 3 November at 5:30pm at the Kerang CFA Meeting Room, Fitzroy Street, Kerang. Come along and meet ‘like-minded’ people and be a part of this exciting opportunity.
