WELLS BRIDGE NOW OPEN!

Media Release

Wells Bridge at Benjeroop is now fully open to the public following the completion of the road sealing works.

Council’s Director Infrastructure and Development Geoff Rollinson said the bridge project has been completed in a timely manner.

“Less than 60 days ago the old bridge was still standing, and we are now opening a completely revitalised structure for the benefit of the community,” Mr Rollinson said.

“There is still some line marking to be undertaken, so Council does advise motorists to please continue to drive with care, however there are no longer any road closures required.”

The completed $1.7 million project is a two lane concrete bridge with increased capacity to withstand high mass loads, and was completed thanks to $838,000 in funding from the Federal Government under Round 2 of the Bridges Renewal Program.

Council Mayor Brian Gibson said the opening will be a fantastic success story for the community.

“We are looking forward to welcoming the Federal Member for Mallee, Mr Andrew Broad for an official opening of this project on 24 April in what will be an opportunity for Council and the community to celebrate this occasion.”

Council would like to sincerely thank the public for their continued patience during the construction phase and invite you to attend the official opening.
