SUMMER READING PROGRAM A SUCCESS
Media Release

Gannawarra Shire children have read 1,727 books as part of the Summer Reading Program run by Gannawarra Library Service.

Mayor Brian Gibson was pleased that more than 100 primary age students from across the region joined the program which was designed to encourage children to read during the summer holidays.

“Every time a child read five books, they went into the running to win a prize. This year there were nine children who read over 50 books each!” Mayor Gibson said.

“I would like to congratulate Sarosh and Sharon Sajeev who received the Kerang Rotary Club prize for the boy and girl who read the most books.”

“The prizes for the person who read the most books at each branch were awarded to Shona Hore (Cohuna), Ethan Billman (Leitchville), Hannah Gardiner (Kerang) and Braeden Entwistle (Quambatook).”

“I would also like to congratulate Connie Foord, Jonty Suter and Shona Hore on receiving the random draw prizes,” Mayor Gibson said.

“It is fantastic to see so many kids and families get involved in this great program which helps stimulate a love of reading in young people.”

A formal prize presentation will take place at the Sir John Gorton Library on Thursday 23 February at 4.30pm.  All community members are welcome.
