2017 SENIORS FESTIVAL

MEDIA RELEASE

A plethora of events and activities are on offer for Gannawarra seniors throughout the 2017 Victorian Seniors Festival this October!

Mayor Brian Gibson said there is something for everybody, and most are being offered at either reduced cost or free of charge.

“The main events on the Gannawarra program for Seniors Week include a Seniors Expo, Silo Art Tour, Koondrook Picnic and Library High Tea, but there are many more options available which are detailed in the flyer available on our website or at our customer service centres,” Mayor Gibson explains.

A free picnic on the river at Koondrook is being offered on Thursday 5 October at 12 noon, attendees are asked to bring a salad or dessert to share and BYO chair or picnic blanket. There will be live music and it is promising to be a wonderful event.

The Silo Art Tour has already proven to be very popular, with places booking fast. Being held on Thursday 12 October, the tour will visit the silos of Lacelles, Roseberry, Brim and Sheep Hills. A cost of $15 per person and bookings are essential.

The Seniors Expo being held on Tuesday 17 October at the Kerang Memorial Hall between 11am – 3pm celebrates the contribution older people make to our community. This is a FREE event with the opportunity to meet with health and aged care providers, community groups, leisure and lifestyle service and much more!

On Wednesday 25 October a Library High Tea will take place at the Sir John Gorton library in Kerang. A free event, but bookings are essential.

“The Victorian Seniors Festival is in its 35th year, and the month long celebration is a highlight on the social calendar for many residents of Gannawarra.”

“I encourage Gannawarra seniors to get a copy of the event flyer and see the amazing range of events and activities on offer. And don’t forget, public transport is free for Seniors Card holders between 8-15 October!” Mayor Gibson said.
