COUNCIL AWARDS ROUND TWO OF COMMUNITY GRANTS

MEDIA RELEASE

Gannawarra Shire Council has awarded $52,397  to community organisations through the second round of the 2016/17 Community Grants Program.

Mayor Brian Gibson said once again Council had seen a significant response from community groups across the Shire, with 34 applications for funding received this round.

“Council was overwhelmed by the number of applications received in this round of Community Grants, it’s fantastic to see the community being proactive and seeking funding support for their initiatives.”

“The projects approved for funding demonstrated strong linkages with Council’s overall and will assist many groups that experience difficulty in competing for grant support from other sources,” Mayor Gibson explained.

“We are pleased that the approved projects show a broad geographic spread across the municipality and include a suite of projects which focus on improvements to community facilities and buildings as well as equipment to support local groups to expand their ability to be productive within the community.”
