RATES NOTICES 2017

Media Release

Residents of Gannawarra Shire will begin receiving their 2017/18 rates notices by the end of August 2017.

Council’s Director Corporate Services Tom O’Reilly explains that the increase in rate revenue for the 2017/18 financial year is 2%, in line with the State Government rate capping.

“This increase allows Council to maintain existing service levels, increase grant subsidised projects aimed at promoting liveability and sustainability within the municipality and contributes towards the renewal of Council’s infrastructure,” Mr. O’Reilly said.

“Ratepayers will receive an information brochure with their rates notice outlining how rates are calculated along with key payment dates for ready reference.”

Further information on the rate capping and its impact on your rates bill can be found on Councils website www.gsc.vic.gov.au.

Mr O’Reilly advised that Council provides a range of payment options including online via BPay or Post billpay, telephone and internet banking, in store at Australia Post and by mail.

“Ratepayers are very welcome to come into the Kerang or Cohuna office to make payment, but perhaps the easiest way is via BPay” he said. “Details of all payment options are conveniently provided on your rate notice” Mr O’Reilly added.

Ratepayers are encouraged to consider paying by instalments over the financial year or they may elect to pay in full by 15 February 2018.

“Residents are reminded that if they choose to pay by instalments, the first instalment payment must be made by 30 September 2017.”

If residents have any queries they should contact Council on 5450 9333.
