Pick My Project
Public Voting Now Open!
Media Release
Community members from across the Gannawarra Shire are encouraged to vote for thirteen local projects as part of the state government’s Pick My Project community grants program.
The innovative $30 million community grants program sought project ideas valued at between $20,000 and $200,000 from individuals across Victoria.
Assessment of project ideas is now complete with more than 2000 projects progressing to the public vote.
Mayor Brian Gibson said that seventeen projects were submitted from across the Gannawarra Shire with thirteen projects selected to proceed to a public vote.
“Community members are each entitled to vote for three projects located within 50 kilometres of their place of residence,” said Mayor Gibson.
“Project ideas receiving the most votes will then be invited to enter in to a funding agreement with the Victorian Government.”
The $30 million funding has been divided between the six metropolitan and nine regional partnership areas.
Gannawarra Shire is located in the Mallee Regional Partnership area with each partnership area set to receive at least $1 million for the project ideas that get the most votes in their area.
“There are five Cohuna projects and two from Quambatook,” said Mayor Gibson.
“Murrabit, Macorna, Leitchville, Lalbert, Lake Charm and Koondrook each have one project idea included in the public vote.”
