The Alexandra Park Trustees Committee has supported the establishment of an RV park at Alexandra Park in Kerang.

This announcement means that Kerang can now join Leitchville, Cohuna and Murrabit in attracting more of the many travellers who deliberately seek out free camp sites to support their travel activities.

Mayor Lorraine Learmonth says research by the Caravan and Motorhome Association of Australia (CMCA) shows that RV travellers spend around $130 per day and support the local business sectors that host them.

"The RV Market is a different market to those travellers that stay in caravan parks. We need to cater for this growing market and ensure we attract more revenue for our local business community and raise the profile of this area as a destination for travellers. RV camps are a perfect way to add value to our local economy".

"Visitor numbers to the area are increasing and with key projects such as the Koondrook Wharf set to open soon it is expected that more travellers will be seeking out towns within the Gannawarra Shire to be part of their visitor experience." Mayor Learmonth says.

Kerang is the fourth town to have an RV park in the Gannawarra Shire Council.
