This weekend will see the launch of local musical project ‘Mystic Melodies’, and the Lakes district will come alive with music and inspiration.

Funded by Regional Arts Fund, the project will run through until early December and aims to involve the community in music and songs.

Council’s Director Community Wellbeing Mandy Hutchinson says Mystic Melodies is for everyone in the community, whether you are a beginner or an accomplished musician.

"Participants are encouraged to bring their own instruments or are welcome to try one of the provided ukuleles, essentially it is about coming together in a creative way that strengthens friendships and supports each other".

"Accomplished musicians Jane Thompson and James Rigby will come to the Lakes and help start a community choir through teaching songs, ukulele and encouraging other music enthusiasts to join in with their instruments", Ms Hutchinson said.

An invitation is extended to any interested community members to come and meet with Jane and James in a jam session at the Mystic Park Hotel this Friday from 5.30pm – 7pm.

For future Mystic Melodies dates please visit Council’s website www.gannawarra.vic.gov.au or call 5450 9333.
