Mystic Melodies Celebration

A community celebration will culminate the Mystic Melodies project in Lake Charm on 9 December, with everyone invited to come along and enjoy the fun.

The Lakes region has come alive with music over the past four months, with one residential opening weekend and seven music and choir workshops delivered as part of the Mystic Melodies project.

Funded by the Australian Government’s Regional Arts Fund the project engaged the community to sing together and build community choir leadership skills.

Mayor Cr Brian Gibson says the project has been a great conduit for all ages to participate in the joy of music.

“Mystic Melodies has seen people from as young as 5 to over 80 come together to create music, and all facets of musicians, from first timers, keen amateurs to professional musicians have been involved. Being able to collaborate and receive support from music leaders Jane Thompson and James Rigby over the course of the project has been wonderful,” Cr Gibson said.

“Jane and James have also gone into Lake Charm Primary School to involve the students and inspire them with music, rhythm, song and ukuleles. The whole project has been a fantastic way to develop the communities’ social interactions and build on the feeling of being connected and safe within your community,” he said.

The project has mentored 2 local community members to be choir leaders. The celebration passes the baton from the project music leaders to the community music leaders to carry the group on.

We are inviting everyone to come along and join in this celebration at Lake Charm Hall on 9 December at 7pm.
