Mental Health Heritage Walk

Media Release

Gannawarra Shire Council invites residents to join a heritage walk of Kerang CBD on Tuesday October 9, 2018.

Mayor Brian Gibson said the event is to be held during National Mental Health Week and Victorian Mental Health Month, taking place from October 7, 2018.

“The theme for Mental Health Month is ‘better mental health for all’ and we hope the community will come together to help us raise awareness and promote good mental health and wellbeing in Gannawarra.”

The Mental Health Heritage Walk will begin from the front entrance of the Kerang Primary School at 9:30am.

The Mental Health Heritage Walk also coincides with the start of the VicHealth Walk to School program.

“Year 6 students from Kerang Primary School will lead the walk,” said Mayor Gibson. “The students will highlight some of the interesting heritage buildings as we walk around the CBD.”

“The event encourages residents to get to know a bit more about their community and to meet other people while being active.”

Morning tea will be provided at the conclusion of the walk.

The event is proudly supported by the Gannawarra Local Agency Meeting (GLAM), a partnership between Gannawarra Shire Council, Northern District Community Health, Kerang District Health, Cohuna District Hospital, Vic Police, Mallee Family Care, Southern Mallee Primary Care Partnership and Mallee District Aboriginal Services.
