GANNAWARRA LIBRARY SERVICE SCHOOLS TRANSITION BOOK
Media Release

The Gannawarra Shire Council is proud to announce the publication of a booklet advertising our wonderful local schools and the services and opportunities they offer. Whilst Council have led the project, the booklet is very much a result of a partnership between the schools and Council.

Council’s Manager Community Wellbeing Mandy Hutchinson said the booklet was aimed at kinder-aged and Grade 6 students.

“The book contains some terrific tips to get children ready to enter Prep or transition into Year 7 and the values and resources available at different schools,” Ms Hutchinson explains.

Launched to coincide with National Education Week, the book has been distributed to all children enrolled in Gannawarra kindergartens and Grade 6 students.

“If you have a child entering Prep that is not enrolled in kinder, copies of the book are also available at Council’s Customer Service centres in Kerang and Cohuna,” Ms Hutchinson said.

Councillor Jodie Basile said Gannawarra Shire places a huge importance on children’s education.

“We are proud of the schools that we have in our area and can’t emphasise enough how valued their services are.”

“We have created this document in partnership with the education providers to best inform our community of the available services and allow you to get a feel for the different schools in our region,” Councillor Basile said.

The booklet covers a range of topics, including Council’s available children services, Kindergartens, Family Services, Primary and Secondary Schools and information on how to make the transition a positive one for both the child and parent.

National Education Week runs from 21 – 27 May 2017.
