GANNAWARRA WELCOMES BACK FLYING DOCTOR’S DENTAL CLINIC

MEDIA RELEASE

The Royal Flying Doctor Service Dental Clinic will be hosted in the Gannawarra Shire for the next seven weeks.

Eligible residents are encouraged to take the opportunity to get a check-up and treatment.

The service is a fully functioning dental clinic and has returned to Gannawarra Shire to offer screening and treatment options for Gannawarra residents. Mayor Brian Gibson said that Council was pleased to welcome back the high profile Royal Flying Doctor Service as it continues to work with Council and partnership agencies to improve oral health outcomes across Gannawarra communities.

“Most oral health problems can be prevented by brushing teeth twice a day, eating healthy foods like crunchy fruit and vegetables and consuming water as the drink of choice,” said Mayor Gibson.

“It’s also important to get regular check-ups with a dentist to prevent tooth decay in its early stages.”

Margaret Kuhne, General Manager Primary Health Care Royal Flying Doctor Service Victoria, said that anyone who is eligible for public dental can get a check-up and treatment in the Flying Doctor’s Dental Clinic.

“We are pleased to return to the Gannawarra Shire to provide dental screening and treatment. Oral health is connected to overall health and those with poor oral hygiene often suffer other health issues.” said Mrs Kuhne.

“Our first week of service in Kerang is already fully booked so we encourage community members to give us a call to make an appointment as soon as they can.”

The Royal Flying Doctor’s Service will operate from the following locations:

Kerang RSL Drive and Northern District Community Health, 16 October – 16 November 2017 Koondrook

Apex Park, 8 November – 17 November 2017

Cohuna District Hospital, 20 November – 1 December 2017
