EXPOSING EDITH

Media Release

Multi-award winning cabaret tale Exposing Edith is coming to Gannawarra Saturday 21 October.

The tale of the legendary French singer Edith Piaf, created and performed by Michaela Burger and Greg Wain, won the Best Cabaret for the 2016 Adelaide Fringe Festival and features classics such as La Vie en Rose, Padam and Non Je Ne Regrette Rien alongside other gems that shot her to stardom.

Mayor Brian Gibson said this event is being delivered in partnership with Loddon Murray Cycling, kicking off M2M fundraising for Kerang District Health and follows on from the very successful Stiletto Sisters which was shown during 2016.

“Accompanying this performance is a French inspired 2 course Diner en Rouge which will be catered for by Loddon Murray Cycling and is the perfect opportunity to catch up with friends before the performance.”

“Guests are invited to dress up en Rouge (in red) and can either pre-order the dinner package, or you can bring your own picnic hamper.”

Spokesperson Angela Hird says the group is very excited to be involved in delivering this event.

“Partnering with Gannawarra Shire, Loddon Murray Cycling is having another fund raiser in a pop-up location in Kerang, this time set in Paris’s back streets. We have previewed the show and think it will have wide appeal.”

“Following the success of our last fundraiser with the Stiletto Sisters, we are asking our community to trust us in the mystery of a pop-up location as we bring a little bit of romance and Paris to Kerang and expect that everyone coming will have a fantastic night out!”

Burger has been dubbed Australia’s very own ‘little sparrow’! With a voice of ‘uncanny beauty’, she sings many of the songs in French and bears an uncanny resemblance to the legendary French star. The songs are punctuated with a collection of extraordinary stories of Piaf’s life. Burger tells them as a raconteur whilst also embodying a multitude of the key characters too. Celebrating 100 years since Piaf’s birth, this is an unforgettable show, not to be missed!

Guests will be informed on the day by 5pm of the exact location of the performance.

Tickets are now available, $25 Adults, $20 Concession, $40 Diner en Rouge (bookings essential) and can be purchase at Council’s Customer Service centres and online at www.trybooking.com/PVGX.

Doors open at 6.00pm with Diner en Rouge at 6.30pm. The performance of Exposing Edith starts at 7.30pm.
