Gannawarra Shire Council welcomed yesterday a new Director of Corporate Services, Mr. Philip Higgins.

Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said that Council is delighted to welcome Philip to the Gannawarra Shire.

“Philip is coming to us from the Murray River Council where he has worked since 2006 in a variety of senior management positions including Director Corporate Services. Philip is a highly experienced professional with over 30 years’ experience in the local government sector,” said Mr. O’Reilly.

“Philip’s earlier Local Government experience also includes four years at the Campaspe Shire Council as the General Manager Corporate and five years at the Leeton Shire Council as the Director Corporate Services,” Mr. O’Reilly added.

Mr. Higgins' extensive experience is supported by qualifications including a Bachelor of Business Local Government, a Master of Business Administration majoring in Finance; along with a Graduate Certificate in Business Excellence.

“Philip will be responsible for areas including Finance and Budget, Audit, Rating and Valuation, Information Communication Technology, Governance and Risk, Human Resource Management, Records Management and Customer Service,” explained Mr O’Reilly.

Mr. Higgins said that he is looking forward to working with Gannawarra Shire Council and the wider community in the capacity of Director Corporate Services.
