COMMUNITY LOCAL LAW REVIEW
Media Release

Gannawarra Shire Council is commencing the process to review the Local Laws Community Amenities No 1 by hosting a series of community consultations.

Director Infrastructure and Development Geoff Rollinson said the Local Law Community Amenities outlines rules to ensure peace, order and good government of the municipality.

“This particular Local Law relates to a wide variety of issues including use of public reserves, consumption of alcohol in public spaces, use of streets, roads, footpaths and Council land, keeping of animals and disposal of rubbish,” explains Mr Rollinson.

“All residents, ratepayers and visitors to Gannawarra Shire are responsible for complying with Local Laws and it is Council’s job to provide education and enforcement of these.”

Over the next two months, Council officers will be attending community Progress and Development group meetings across the Shire as well as hosting two open sessions for the community to come and speak to Council staff about the Local Law Community Amenities.

Cohuna’s session will be held at the Cohuna Community Meeting Room, 7.00pm Monday 14 August and Kerang’s will be held at the Memorial Hall, 7.00pm Tuesday 15 August.

Community members will also be able to have their say via our website at www.gsc.vic.gov.au and the current Local Law is located on Council’s website for viewing.

Council encourages the community to get involved in this process. To learn more please attend one of the above mentioned sessions.
