2017 AUSTRALIA DAY AMBASSADORS ANNOUNCED
Gannawarra Shire Council is pleased to announce it has the pleasure of hosting two Australia Day Ambassadors for Australia Day in 2017.
Mayor Brian Gibson said it’s a privilege to be able to welcome the Ambassadors to Gannawarra Shire.
“It will be wonderful to have these special guests visit the Shire and to help us celebrate on a day where we are able to reflect on our national journey; acknowledge our past, rejoice in the present and look confidently to our future,” Mayor Gibson said.
The ambassadors for each community are listed below:
- Mr John Forbes (OAM KSJ) for Kerang and Leitchville
- Ms Sally Nolan for Koondrook and Cohuna
“Along with my fellow Councillors, I look forward to welcoming Sally and John to Gannawarra for the Australia Day celebrations. I am confident that each community they are visiting will host a fantastic day and it will be enjoyed by all,” Mayor Gibson said.
The Australia Day Ambassador Program sends high achieving Australians to over 300 community celebrations nationwide every Australia Day.
Ambassadors were not able to be provided at all locations this year, so some communities will organise local guest speakers for their celebrations.
The Australia Day Ambassador Program is coordinated by Australia Day Councils and Committees in each state and territory.

She prides herself on understanding specific client needs and providing a solution to help their business, whatever that may be. She is very fortunate to have a strong developing personal network and considers many clients as friends. She is a hardworking and driven person and has a clear focus on her goals. After completing a Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Hospitality Studies at RMIT University Melbourne, Sally commenced a career in hospitality, working at Government House in Victoria and managing corporate hospitality facilities at iconic Melbourne events, including the F1 Australian Grand Prix, Melbourne Fashion Festival, Spring Racing Carnival at Flemington and the AFL football and Cricket events held at the MGC. Her love of food and wine led her to managing the gourmet food and hospitality outlets within the famed David Jones Foodhall in the 90s, and to her work in the opening and operation of the Georges Foodstore. She then went onto combine hospitality, wellness and sport at organisations including The Park Hyatt, The Mansion Hotel and The Heritage Golf & Country Club in the Yarra Valley. She now finds herself right back where she started out facilitating amazing experiences for people at the MCG during the cricket and football seasons.
