2017 AUSTRALIA DAY AMBASSADORS ANNOUNCED

Gannawarra Shire Council is pleased to announce it has the pleasure of hosting two Australia Day Ambassadors for Australia Day in 2017.

Mayor Brian Gibson said it’s a privilege to be able to welcome the Ambassadors to Gannawarra Shire.

“It will be wonderful to have these special guests visit the Shire and to help us celebrate on a day where we are able to reflect on our national journey; acknowledge our past, rejoice in the present and look confidently to our future,” Mayor Gibson said.

The ambassadors for each community are listed below:

  • Mr John Forbes (OAM KSJ) for Kerang and Leitchville
  • Ms Sally Nolan for Koondrook and Cohuna

“Along with my fellow Councillors, I look forward to welcoming Sally and John to Gannawarra for the Australia Day celebrations. I am confident that each community they are visiting will host a fantastic day and it will be enjoyed by all,” Mayor Gibson said.

The Australia Day Ambassador Program sends high achieving Australians to over 300 community celebrations nationwide every Australia Day.

Ambassadors were not able to be provided at all locations this year, so some communities will organise local guest speakers for their celebrations.

The Australia Day Ambassador Program is coordinated by Australia Day Councils and Committees in each state and territory.
