2016 Seniors Festival

The 34th Victorian Seniors Festival will see more than 1,500 free or low cost events take place across Victoria during the month of October.

Victorian Seniors Festival Week 2016 is officially celebrated on Sunday 2 October to Sunday 9 October; however the Gannawarra Shire will host events throughout the month of October.

Director Community Wellbeing Mandy Hutchinson says a jam packed program during October features entertainment, adventure and fun activities including sport, the arts, concerts, tours and afternoon teas. Free public transport is available for Victorian Seniors Card holders from 2 -9 October 2016. 

“To kick the month off in Gannawarra Shire James Blundell will perform in Cohuna on Tuesday 4 October. Following James Blundell’s performance, the Cohuna Seniors will celebrate their 50th Anniversary with an afternoon tea.”

“In addition Gannawarra Shire Council will offer many activities that everybody can enjoy such as The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel movie screening, the Wetlander Cruise with Devonshire Tea, a visit to Border Flywheeler Museum and Cohuna Library will host a High Tea to finish off the month,” Ms Hutchinson says.

“Also there are several Come and Try sessions in Croquet, Tennis and Golf also on offer.”

“It’s time for Gannawarra Seniors to embrace and celebrate diversity so come along to this year’s 2016 Victorian Seniors Festival Events,” Ms Hutchinson says.

The Program of Events brochure is available at both the Kerang and Cohuna Customer Service offices. Details of the events happening in the municipality are in the brochure, some events require a booking/ticket.
